Kaysa, Bronze sculpture in Sellin, Germany.
Kaysa is a bronze female figure positioned on a rock in the sea and stands about 168 cm tall. It is located near the southern beach of Sellin and is easily accessible from the beach promenade.
Artist Thomas Jastram created this sculpture in 2014 as part of his works in the region. It belongs to a series of art installations that Jastram established at various locations throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The figure shows a young woman wringing out her hair, referring to everyday beach moments. This gesture speaks to visitors who recognize themselves in the scene of a coastal experience.
The figure stands on a rock in the sea and can be viewed from the beach promenade, especially in good weather. During high tide or poor conditions, the view may be limited, so visiting at low tide is recommended.
In cold months, the seawater around the sculpture can freeze and create a natural ice formation that completely changes its appearance. This phenomenon occurs irregularly and offers visitors a special sight during winter months.
