Basilica of St. Martin

The Basilica of St. Martin stands as the largest Baroque church in Germany, measuring half the size of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

Construction of the current basilica took place from 1715 to 1724 under architect Franz Beer, replacing an earlier structure from the 11th century.

The basilica contains the Gabler Organ, constructed between 1735 and 1750, featuring over 6,000 pipes and maintaining its original mechanical components.

The church opens daily for visitors and holds regular religious services, with special celebrations occurring on November 11 for St. Martin's feast day.

The interior displays extensive frescoes by Cosmas Damian Asam, depicting religious scenes across the vaulted ceilings and dome surfaces.
