Leineweberring, tor wyścigowy (Niemcy)
Leineweberring is a flat oval motorcycle racing track in Bielefeld-Heepen measuring approximately 700 meters around, where both paved and grass track racing events take place. The venue has simple spectator areas, rider facilities, and parking surrounding the grounds, with a football field for SV Baumheide situated inside the track loop.
Founded in 1950, the DMSC Bielefeld motorcycle club converted a swampy area into a racing facility after renting the land from the city in 1972 and held its first race in 1973. The venue developed into an internationally recognized racing location that peaked with 12,000 spectators in 1977 and later hosted European Championship finals in 1985 and World Championship semi-finals in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The name reflects Bielefeld's history as a center for linen weaving, a craft that shaped the region for centuries. Visitors can observe how the track remains a gathering place where motorcyclists and fans maintain racing traditions that connect generations of local enthusiasts.
The track is accessible on race days and easily reached from Eckendorfer Straße, with parking available near the grounds. Visitors should arrive early to observe warm-up sessions and meet riders, while the straightforward layout allows viewing the races clearly from various spots around the circuit.
The site was originally a swamp that club members transformed into a working racetrack through physical labor. Today it hosts not only motorcycle races but also a football field, flea markets, and other community events, making it much more than a racing venue.
