The Goldener Löwe memorial stands in a former guesthouse on Marienstrasse 57 in the southern part of Eisenach's old town district.
The building served as the founding location for the Social Democratic Workers' Party in 1869, under the leadership of August Bebel and Wilhelm Liebknecht.
The August Bebel Society maintains exhibitions about the German labor movement, showcasing documents and artifacts from the early days of social democracy.
Visitors can explore the memorial from Monday to Friday between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with guided tours available through advance reservation.
The original congress had to relocate to Hotel Zum Mohren due to disruptions from competing political groups, before moving to another building that later burned down.
