KUNSTpavillon Eisenach, Exhibition hall in Eisenach, Germany.
The KUNSTpavillon is an exhibition building at Wartburgallee in Eisenach featuring large window sections and original stone tiles inside. Located opposite the Kartausgarten, it now serves as a space for rotating art exhibitions and cultural events.
The pavilion was designed in 1967 by architect Werrmann from Leipzig as a vehicle museum for the Eisenach Automobile Factory and displayed cars from that era. In 2007 it transformed into a contemporary art center.
The building displays forms of East German modernism with clean lines and functional design. This approach shapes its appearance today and makes it an example of architecture from that era.
The building is easy to find after parking near Wartburgallee and sits between the Kartausgarten and residential areas. The rotating exhibitions and events happen throughout the year, so checking the program before visiting is worth your time.
As a vehicle museum, the building drew roughly three million visitors by 1994 and was a popular local destination. This high attendance shows how strongly people connected the site with the region's car manufacturing history.
