Elbauenpark, Recreation park in Magdeburg, Germany
Elbauenpark is a large recreational area with gardens, meadows, and play spaces along the eastern bank of the Elbe River in Magdeburg. The site combines different landscape areas, a viewing tower, and pathways for walking and leisure activities.
The site originated from a Federal Garden Exhibition in 1999 and was built as a public space on former military grounds. This transformation marks an important repurposing of the area after the Cold War ended.
The amphitheater hosts outdoor concerts, ballet performances, and theater productions throughout the summer season overlooking the river. Visitors can experience cultural events that turn the grounds into an active gathering place.
Visitors can explore the site on foot, by rental Segway, rickshaw, or the Elbauen Express train, with parking spaces available near the main entrance. The grounds are well-connected with different pathways and easy to navigate.
The Millennium Tower, approximately 60 meters tall, houses six floors with scientific exhibits about human history. The building tells the story of inventions and discoveries from different periods through interactive displays.
