The glass greenhouse maintains a tropical climate with 90% humidity and temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius throughout the year for butterfly survival.
The butterfly house opened in 2000 as part of the Elbauenpark development following the German Federal Garden Exhibition in Magdeburg.
Visitors walk among 200 butterflies from Central America, South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia while observing their complete metamorphosis cycle.
The facility includes terrariums with iguanas, giant grasshoppers, Madagascar geckos, and a pond system with waterfalls containing various fish species.
The Atlas moth, one of the observable species in the house, displays a wingspan reaching up to 30 centimeters across.
