The Neue Elbebrücke Schönebeck is a cable-stayed bridge that crosses the Elbe River and connects the transportation network between Halle and Magdeburg. The distinctive pylon rises visibly above the river valley and supports the roadway with steel cables running to the deck below.
The structure was built between 2010 and 2013, creating a new transportation route across the river in eastern Germany. Its completion established an important infrastructure hub for the region.
The Institution of Structural Engineers in London recognized this engineering achievement by awarding it the title of Best Bridge of the Year 2014 Worldwide.
Visitors can cross the bridge on foot or by car, with straightforward routes to follow. The best views of the structure are found from areas beneath and beside the bridge, where you can better appreciate the construction from different angles.
The bridge received the award for Best Bridge of the Year 2014 from the Institution of Structural Engineers in London. This international recognition highlights its innovative design and importance as a modern infrastructure achievement.
