Schloss Türnich

Schloss Türnich is a baroque château in Kerpen with neo-baroque elements in its main building and symmetrical layouts. The property spreads across several hectares with an English landscape garden surrounding the structures.

The original medieval moated castle was first mentioned in 898 and sat strategically between the Duchy of Jülich and the Electorate of Cologne. Its position between two powerful territories shaped how it developed over the centuries.

Restoration began in 2009 after nearby coal mining depleted groundwater and caused serious damage to the buildings. This recovery work became essential to save the historical structures from further deterioration.
