Gallwitz-Kaserne, Former artillery barracks in Duisdorf, Germany.
Gallwitz-Kaserne is a former artillery barracks in Duisdorf that covers roughly 7.6 hectares of land with various administration buildings spread across the grounds. The complex sits near the A 565 highway and today serves as office space for government ministries.
The barracks opened in 1938 to house the Artillery Regiment 62 and originally accommodated around 564 soldiers and 400 horses. After the war, the site changed hands and uses multiple times before eventually becoming government office space.
The name honors General Karl Gallwitz from the First World War period. Today, artworks by contemporary artists such as Norbert Kricke and Heinz-Gunter Prager are displayed across the grounds and shape how visitors experience the space.
The grounds now house offices for the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. Visitors should be aware these are active government buildings with limited public access during specific hours.
Since 2016, Pandion AG has taken over the property to transform it into a residential project called Pandion Ville with around 520 housing units. This change means the historic site is being reshaped into a contemporary housing area.
