Schinkelturm

Schinkelturm is a concrete broadcasting tower standing near Osnabrück that rises prominently above the surrounding landscape. The cylindrical structure carries antennas for radio and television transmission on top of its shaft.

The tower was constructed between 1976 and 1977 to provide important broadcasting infrastructure for the region. Its completion met growing demand for television and radio signals across Lower Saxony.

The tower serves as a central hub for regional radio and television broadcasts, transmitting numerous programs through its DVB-T2 and FM radio facilities.

The facility is not open to visitors since it remains an active broadcasting station. From nearby roads you can observe and photograph the tower from a good distance.

The concrete tower weighs about 5600 tons and was engineered to withstand powerful wind forces. Despite its massive size, the top of the structure can still sway slightly, allowing it to respond to wind pressure.
