Schinkelturm, Communications tower in Osnabrück, Germany

Schinkelturm is a 158-metre telecommunications tower on the Schinkelberg in Osnabrück's Widukindland district, near the border with Belm. Its shaft carries a red operating level made of glass-fibre-reinforced plastic and steel, and the structure is the FMT 13 type with a FeN 2e/72 operating level.

The tower was constructed between 1976 and 1977 to provide important broadcasting infrastructure for the region. Its completion met growing demand for television and radio signals across Lower Saxony.

The tower serves as a central hub for regional radio and television broadcasts, transmitting numerous programs through its DVB-T2 and FM radio facilities.

The tower is an active broadcasting facility and cannot be entered. It stands in the Widukindland district at the northeastern city limit, next to Belm. The red operating floor made of glass-fibre-reinforced plastic and steel is visible from the surrounding roads.

The tower is a type FMT 13 with a FeN 2e/72 operations level, and its red operations floor is made of glass-fibre-reinforced plastic and steel. At a calculated wind speed of 45 m/s the tip deflects at most 0.70 m; solar heating adds up to 0.11 m. Until 25 July 2016 an amateur radio station with the call sign DB0OBK operated here.
