Hagendenkmal, Bronze monument near Rhine River in Worms, Germany
The Hagendenkmal depicts Hagen von Tronje throwing the Nibelung treasure into the Rhine River, measuring several meters in height with sharp details.
Johannes Hirt created this bronze statue in 1905, commissioned by Cornelius Wilhelm von Heyl zu Herrnsheim as a tribute to the Nibelungenlied epic.
The monument represents a central figure from German medieval literature, marking Worms as a primary location along the Nibelungen cultural route.
Located at Am Rhein 5 in Worms, the statue stands on a wheelchair-accessible promenade near the north portal of Worms Cathedral.
The monument moved from its original location in Bürgerweide city gardens to its current Rhine River position in June 1932.
