Herrnsheimer Schloss

Herrnsheimer Schloss is an Empire style palace in Worms with a main building featuring a round tower. The structure sits within a 10.5-hectare English landscape garden containing ponds, islands, and woodlands that visitors can explore on foot.

The original fortified structure dates to 1460 and underwent several reconstructions over the centuries. Following damage from French occupation, a major renovation took place in 1808 to restore the building.

The interior displays wall paintings and decorative elements from the early 19th century that reflect Empire style aesthetics of that era. Visitors can observe these details firsthand and understand how wealthy families designed their living spaces during this period.

The palace is open to visitors primarily through guided tours at scheduled times throughout the year. The surrounding garden is accessible for walking and provides paths to explore the landscape with views of the building and water features.

The garden was designed by landscape architect Friedrich Ludwig Skell and features artificial water channels, bridges, and islands. These waterworks from 1790 showcase the horticultural craftsmanship of that era and invite exploration of the grounds.
