Hofgärtnerhaus Düsseldorf

The Hofgärtnerhaus is a mansion with a curved design and mansard roof situated in Düsseldorf's Hofgarten park. It currently contains the Theater Museum, which displays objects and information related to performance history.

The structure was built in 1769 as a residence for the court gardener under architect Nicolas de Pigage. French military bombardment destroyed it in 1796, but it was reconstructed in 1802 with further modifications made decades later.

The building served as a social gathering place where court musicians and local artists performed for the nobility during the 1700s. Today it reflects how such spaces shaped cultural life beyond the royal court itself.

The building sits in the heart of the Hofgarten and is easily accessible on foot with good public transport connections. A visit works well when combined with a walk through the park, which has many paths and seating areas to explore.

Side wings were added in 1780 to expand the original structure, and an extra floor was incorporated at the same time. These changes show how the building's purpose and use evolved over several decades.
