Industriehaus am Wehrhahn

Industriehaus am Wehrhahn is a seven-story protected office building in the Pempelfort district. Its white plaster facade features a tuffstone base, horizontal bands across the upper levels, and supporting colonnade pillars that frame the ground-floor zones.

Built between 1921 and 1924, this structure was Düsseldorf's first high-rise when completed. Its prominence changed when the Wilhelm-Marx-Haus later rose taller in the city.

The building displays expressionist features with ornamental columns and figurative decorations visible across its facade. The crenellated crown and console-supported arches give it a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from other office buildings of its era.

Following renovation in 2012, the building now houses medical practices, law offices, engineering firms, and retail shops on the ground floor. Visitors can admire the exterior facade and explore the surrounding area, easily navigating between different entrance areas.

The colonnades with their ornate supporting pillars form a striking structural feature at the building's base that significantly contributes to its expressionist character. Many visitors overlook this architectural detail, yet it comprises a major part of the structure's visual identity.
