Tanzhaus Nordrhein-Westfalen

Tanzhaus Nordrhein-Westfalen is a contemporary dance theatre in Düsseldorf with multiple stages designed for performances and experiments with movement-based art. The facility also offers regular classes in diverse styles, ranging from African dance to Brazilian contemporary, flamenco, and modern techniques.

The theatre was established to create a dedicated space for contemporary dance in the region and has since become an important hub for movement-based experimentation. In 2016, it joined the Alliance of International Production Houses, an affiliation that brought increased funding and expanded programming opportunities.

The venue showcases dance works from many traditions, ranging from African forms to Brazilian styles, connecting audiences with both local and international artists. This blending of cultural perspectives shapes daily activity and turns the space into a gathering place for people drawn to movement and creative expression.

The venue is fully wheelchair accessible and welcomes visitors with mobility needs. The space features rotating programs throughout the year, allowing visitors to choose between attending performances or joining dance classes based on their interests.

The theatre works with the MODINA project, which integrates digital technology into dance performances to show how contemporary art and technical innovation can merge. This collaboration allows traditional dancers and digital tools to share the same stage in new ways.
