Idarkopf tower until 2022

Idarkopf tower is a wooden observation structure in Weitersbach built with wood and hot-dip galvanized steel components. The structure reaches approximately 28 meters high and features an observation platform designed to resemble a bird's nest.

The original tower was built in 1980 and served visitors for decades. A fire in 2018 destroyed the structure, leading to the construction of the replacement in 2022.

The tower serves as a gathering point for hikers exploring the Hunsrück landscape. People use it as a landmark and destination for outdoor excursions through the surrounding forest.

Two parking areas near Stipshausen provide starting points for reaching the observation platform. The walking route is well-marked and passes through the forested landscape of the Hunsrück area.

The observation platform is shaped to resemble a bird's nest, creating an unusual viewing experience. This design gives the structure a playful character that sets it apart from conventional observation towers.
