The Idarkopf tower features a triangular wooden frame design reaching 28.5 meters high at an elevation of 772.3 meters in the Hunsrück region.
Built in 1980, the original wooden tower served visitors for 42 years until a fire in 2018 led to its demolition and replacement in 2022.
The tower stands as a central point for outdoor activities in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, where visitors explore the surrounding Idar Forest.
Two designated parking areas near Stipshausen provide starting points for a 2-kilometer hiking trail leading to the observation tower.
The replacement structure combines wood and hot-dip galvanized steel, featuring an observation platform designed to resemble a bird's nest.
