An den zwei Steinen is a mountain in the Hunsruck region of Rhineland-Palatinate with a height of approximately 766 meters (2,513 feet). The peak sits between Birkenfeld and Bernkastel-Wittlich counties.
The mountain developed over millennia as the second-highest elevation in Rhineland-Palatinate, after Erbeskopf at approximately 816 meters (2,677 feet). This geographical position has remained unchanged and defines its regional importance.
The name refers to two distinctive rock formations at the summit that serve as the landmark of this peak. Hikers recognize these striking stone blocks immediately when reaching the top.
The mountain is accessible via marked hiking trails that begin from Hunsruckhohenstrae with several route options to choose from. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and prepare for changing path conditions depending on the season and weather.
Although not the highest mountain in the region, it remains a popular hiking destination because of its characteristic rock formations and views over the surrounding Hunsruck landscapes. The two stones at the summit provide hikers with a perfect rest spot offering viewpoints across the area.
