In 1897, a large bronze eagle monument with a three-meter wingspan was erected on the summit. This installation marked an important moment in the local history of commemoration and landmark identity.
The name comes from an old legend about dwarf king Hübich who was said to guard the stone. This figure held special meaning in the minds of people living in the region.
The rock formation sits roughly one kilometer northwest of Bad Grund and is easily accessible by hiking trails. Several viewpoints provide views across the surrounding Harz mountains and are reached by walking around the site.
