Mühlenhof

Mühlenhof is a watermill facility in the Linn district with four interconnected wings arranged around a central courtyard. The complex once housed both grain and oil milling operations powered by water wheels.

The mill was first documented in 1602 as a grinding facility for the Archbishop of Cologne. It suffered destruction during the Thirty Years' War but was rebuilt in 1650.

The site shows how mills once set the pace of local life and drew people from surrounding areas. You can still trace the craftsmanship of the era through the preserved rooms and their original layouts.

The site sits on Linner Strasse and is accessible on foot from the city center. Today it houses residential apartments and a café where visitors can take a break.

It is the only preserved watermill building in Krefeld with its original machinery still intact. Following comprehensive renovations in the early 2000s, visitors can observe the historic mechanical systems today.
