Founded in 1832 as Royal Provincial Archives, this institution has collected documents from authorities and monasteries of the northern Prussian Rhineland Province.
The institution maintains the largest publicly accessible collection of aerial photographs in Germany, along with extensive political and administrative documentation.
Researchers can access the archives Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 to 19:00, Wednesday and Thursday until 16:00, and Friday until 12:30.
The archives contain civil registry records from Düsseldorf and Cologne districts, including church documents that date back several centuries.
