Kissinger Hütte, Mountain hut on Feuerberg in Schwarze Berge, Germany
Kissinger Hütte stands on Feuerberg mountain at 832 meters elevation and provides lodging and meals for hikers exploring the Rhön region. The facility contains ten double rooms with private bathrooms and five multi-bed rooms available year-round except Mondays in November.
The shelter was built in 1914 as König-Ludwig-Hütte and underwent expansions following World War I. A major renovation took place in 1972.
The restaurant here serves traditional German mountain cuisine and follows the DAV campaign principles that promote regional products from the surrounding highlands.
The summit offers good hiking with trails connected to other mountain paths in the region. Visits are possible year-round, though weekends and nearby days tend to be busier.
The location sits within a dark sky reserve and offers exceptional opportunities for stargazing. Minimal artificial light in the surrounding area makes the night sky particularly clear and impressive.
