Klostergut Fremersberg

Klostergut Fremersberg is a winery and former monastery featuring a main building, side wing, and bell tower with classical architecture from the early 1900s. The estate spans steep vineyard slopes with multiple vineyard plots, some cultivating specialized grape varieties for regional wines.

A Margrave of Baden established a Franciscan monastery here in 1426, which served as a religious community for about 400 years. After its dissolution in 1826, the grounds were converted into a winery and have been used for wine production ever since.

The vineyard parcels carry names rooted in local legends and religious figures, reflecting the spiritual heritage of the place. Visitors can walk among the vines and sense how faith and winemaking have been intertwined here for centuries.

The grounds sit on steep slopes and require sturdy footwear for exploring the various vineyard terraces. The view over the valley is visible from many spots around the property and helps with getting oriented while visiting.

One section of the vineyard grows 36 fig trees, which is quite rare for this wine region. This specialized cultivation blends old agricultural practices with modern winemaking.
