Augustinerinnenkloster Adelheiden, Medieval monastery in Allensbach, Germany
The Augustinerinnenkloster Adelheiden stands near Hegne, consisting of a chapel and residential buildings situated half an hour by foot from Allensbach.
Following the murder of a young woman from Reichenau in the 14th century, local residents constructed a chapel in 1374 that later expanded into a monastery.
The monastery transformed from a Benedictine establishment to an Augustinian convent, marking a significant shift in religious practices within the region.
Visitors can reach the former monastery grounds via the Adelheider Weg in Allensbach, where parts of the original structures remain visible.
Elements from the original monastery church now reside in both Hegne village chapel and St. Verena parish church in Dettingen.
