The residence was founded in 1987 by a cultural initiative in Rhineland-Palatinate and moved to its present location in 1997. This shift followed the property acquisition in 1995 and allowed the program to expand its facilities and artist capacity.
The residence brings together creators from different countries to work and exchange ideas, especially between German-speaking and French artists. Works emerge from literature, music, and visual arts shaped by this cross-border collaboration and shared creative space.
