Leuchtturm Obereversand, Lighthouse in Wurster Nordseeküste, Germany
Obereversand Lighthouse is a cast iron navigation aid on the Wurster North Sea coast standing 34 meters tall with a square base. An observation gallery near the top allows views over the coastal landscape below.
This structure was built in 1887 to guide ships through the Weser estuary and operated until 1923 alongside a front light. It was constructed to support shipping traffic between Bremen and the AG Weser shipyard.
The lighthouse served generations of sailors navigating these waters as a trusted guide. It stands as a reminder of how deeply maritime life shaped this coastal region.
A staircase climb leads to an upper platform where views open across the sea and flat coastal region. The site is easily accessible and suits a walk along the North Sea shore.
Inside there are three separate staircases leading to a second gallery, while an external spiral staircase serves as an emergency exit. This double system reflects the engineering demands of its era.
