Wurster Nordseeküste, Coastal municipality in Lower Saxony, Germany
Wurster Nordseeküste is a coastal municipality in Lower Saxony that stretches along the North Sea, comprising eight formerly independent villages across mainly flat land. The entire area forms a connected community that extends across this coastal region.
The municipality came into being in January 2015 when eight separate administrative units merged to form a larger entity in the Cuxhaven district. This merger allowed for improved administrative structures across the coastal region.
The eight villages have kept their own local customs, and along the beaches you still see traditional fishing boats mixed with modern vessels. Each settlement shows its distinct character through its buildings and how people live there.
The area lies extremely low, just a few meters above sea level, so you should be attentive during poor weather. The coastal region is easy to access, and several harbors offer direct access to the sea and connections to walking routes.
A network of coastal paths connects all eight former villages, allowing visitors to explore the different settlements on foot. These walking routes provide a good overview of the entire region and its varied coastal landscapes.
