Park Juliusruh, Historic park in Juliusruh, Germany.
Park Juliusruh is a historic green space between Breeger Bodden and the Baltic Sea, designed with linden trees from southern Sweden, exotic plants, and beech hedges. The grounds contain several pavilions and other structures that define the original estate.
Julius von der Lancken founded the estate in 1795 during the Swedish period of Rügen as a country property with a residence and several buildings. The design reflects the gardening and architectural ideals of that era.
The park was designed following Swedish landscape principles that remain visible in the arrangement of plants and pathways today. Visitors can experience this connection to Scandinavian garden culture through the choice of trees and the open structure of the grounds.
The grounds can be accessed free of charge year-round and are located a short walk from the beach. Access is straightforward due to the park's position between the coast and the lagoon waters.
The entire estate rests on dune sand, which created special conditions for plant growth and influenced the landscaping approach. This sandy foundation continues to shape the park's structure and appearance today.
