Rechtsschutzsaal Bildstock, Historical labor union building in Friedrichsthal, Germany.

The Rechtsschutzsaal Bildstock is a red brick building with symmetrical windows and a decorated central entrance featuring stone details. Inside, the structure contains several halls arranged to serve meetings and exhibitions.

The building was created in the 1890s through contributions from mining workers who each donated one Reichsmark and two bricks. It became Germany's first union building constructed this way by workers for their own use.

The halls inside carry names of labor movement leaders and still host community gatherings today. These spaces show how important the workers' movement was to this region's identity.

The building is open to visitors and features exhibitions about mining history and worker rights. Check ahead to find out when guided tours are available and what exhibitions are currently on display.

Every single brick in this building came directly from a mining worker's donation. This makes the structure a physical symbol of how workers came together and acted as one.
