Schloss Badinghagen, Moated castle in Meinerzhagen, Germany
The stone fortress stands with a half-timbered upper floor and shingle cladding above a solid ground floor base near the Bergisches Land border.
First documented in the Werden provost register of 1160, the castle remained under Badinghagen family ownership from 1363 until their lineage ended in 1642.
The castle represents North Rhine-Westphalia architectural heritage, maintaining its medieval structural elements despite renovations conducted in 1902.
Due to private ownership by the Dresler family from Kreuztal, visitors can only observe the castle exterior while walking on nearby hiking trails.
The castle moat receives its water supply directly from the Agger River, creating a continuous flow system around the medieval structure.
