Midgard Serpent, Steel family roller coaster at Hansa Park in Sierksdorf, Germany
Midgard Serpent is a steel roller coaster at Hansa Park with over 200 meters of track combining dark indoor sections with outdoor segments. The ride reaches speeds of 45 kilometers per hour and accommodates 12 passengers in six cars with two seats per row.
The coaster was built by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides and opened in 2011 as part of the Land of Vikings section at the park. It marked an expansion of the facility with a new themed area featuring Nordic elements.
The name comes from Norse mythology and refers to the legendary sea creature of that tradition. Visitors experience a story about an encounter with this mythical being during their ride.
Much of the track runs over water, creating reflections that enhance the experience throughout the ride. It is helpful to be aware of the water surroundings when planning your visit, especially during warmer weather.
The ride constantly switches between dark tunnel sections and open areas above water, creating an unexpected variety in the experience. This contrast between darkness and bright daylight makes each ride feel different and engaging.
