Tour Total Berlin, Modern high-rise building in Europacity district, Berlin, Germany
Tour Total is a modern office tower with a rippling facade made of faceted concrete piers that rises 69 meters high. The structure contains 16 floors providing 28,000 square meters of workspace and was designed by the architecture firm Barkow Leibinger.
This building was constructed between 2010 and 2012 and became the first completed project in the large-scale Europacity development plan. Its completion marked the start of transforming this area into a mixed-use district in Berlin-Mitte.
The architectural firm Barkow Leibinger designed the tower with a geometric grid pattern that reflects the French energy corporation Total's presence in Germany.
The building sits near Berlin Hauptbahnhof station, making it easy to reach by public transport. A two-story arcade at ground level connects different public areas and provides covered passages through the site.
The faceted concrete piers of the facade are designed to catch light and shadow in different ways, making the building's appearance shift throughout the day. This geometric detail keeps the structure visually interesting from different angles and times of day.
