Devil's Table, Sandstone rock formation in Hinterweidenthal, Germany

The natural rock formation rises 14 meters high with a massive 250-tonne table-shaped top balanced on a narrower sandstone pedestal in the Palatinate Forest.

The rock structure formed during the Early Triassic period, approximately 250 million years ago, when the region experienced an arid desert climate.

The German postal service featured this natural monument on a Rhineland-Palatinate stamp in 1947, recognizing its regional significance.

Visitors can access the formation through marked hiking trails from the dedicated parking area near the Devil's Table Adventure Park in Hinterweidenthal.

The geological formation received National Geotope status in 2006, distinguishing it among twenty similar mushroom rocks in the Palatinate Forest.
