Wildekopf

Wildekopf is a mountain peak in the Thuringian Forest that rises to approximately 943 meters in elevation. The summit forms a northwestern extension of the Großer Beerberg and can be reached through various hiking trails.

The peak belonged to the highest points within Suhl's city limits for a long time before the incorporation of neighboring municipalities changed the geographical boundaries. These shifts in city borders reorganized the mountain landscape.

The path to the summit follows established hiking trails that are accessible from several starting points. A mountain lodge nearby offers a place to rest and helps with navigation for hikers.

The eastern face drops off at a particularly steep angle and ranks among the most pronounced slopes in the central mountain massif of the region. This unusual steepness makes the side easy for hikers to spot.
