Gebrannter Stein

Gebrannter Stein is a mountain peak in Thuringia standing at approximately 900 meters and sitting within the Thuringian Forest. The summit offers views across the surrounding woodland and is crossed by several marked hiking paths.

The region shows traces of human settlement from early times, with ancient pathways used across several centuries. These old routes connected different communities and trading areas in the area.

Local people use the area for regular walks and outdoor gatherings, especially during good weather when the trails fill with visitors. This peak has become a natural meeting point for the community throughout the year.

Hikers can start from several locations such as Ruppberg parking area or Zellaer sports field. The paths are well marked and offer different difficulty levels depending on which route you choose.

Rocky slopes here support wild blueberry bushes that hikers can pick during the season. On clear days, visitors from the summit can see the Rhön mountain range in the distance.
