Hirzstein

The Hirzstein summit rises 502 meters above sea level, featuring dense forests and diverse wildlife within the Habichtswald mountain range of northern Hesse.

The Devil's Wall, located 450 meters northeast of the peak, was exposed during the 18th century when basalt was extracted for constructing the Hercules monument.

The viewing platform includes special telescope poles with detailed information about visible landmarks, allowing visitors to identify distant geographical features.

Multiple hiking trails lead to the summit, with parking facilities available near the mountain base, accessible via the A44 motorway.

The protected area spans 27.58 hectares and serves as a nesting ground for eagle owls and peregrine falcons within the EU bird sanctuary.
