Tettnang Castle

Tettnang Castle is a fortified residence and museum featuring lavish rooms filled with artwork and ornamental details across multiple chambers. The exhibitions display decorative elements and furnishings that illustrate the lifestyle and tastes of its former residents.

The castle served as the seat of the Counts of Montfort beginning in 1260 and suffered a major fire in 1753. Reconstruction under Count Franz Xaver lasted until 1770 and transformed the building's architectural character.

The rooms display works by local artists who shaped the region's rococo style through intricate carvings and paintings. Visitors can observe how these craftsmen expressed the artistic tastes of their time throughout the interiors.

The museum is accessible through guided tours offered regularly during the main season. It is best to check opening hours in advance, as availability varies depending on the time of year.
