Witches' tower, Medieval watchtower in Fulda, Germany

The Witches' Tower stands 14 meters tall as a round stone structure within the northern section of Fulda's historic city fortifications.

Built in the 12th century, this defensive tower marked the boundary between the town and monastery district before becoming a women's prison in later centuries.

A plaque near the tower honors 270 victims of witch hunts in Fulda, though records indicate the accused were held in the City Palace, not this tower.

The tower functions as Station 11 on Fulda's audio-guided tour route, allowing visitors to explore the medieval defensive architecture of the city.

Next to the Witches' Tower stands the birthplace of Ferdinand Braun, the inventor who developed the cathode ray tube technology.
