Schloss Eltershofen, Medieval château in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany.
Schloss Eltershofen is a château in Schwäbisch Hall with a rectangular floor plan marked by fortified railings and corner bastions. The property sits within a moated fortified perimeter that provides defensive protection.
The castle began as a noble residence but passed to citizen Rudolf Nagel in 1516 when the last Eltershofen heir sold it. The property then underwent major reconstruction in the following century that reshaped its entire appearance.
Local merchant families from Schwäbisch Hall reshaped the structure in the 17th century to serve as a pleasure residence. This transformation shows how wealthy townspeople expressed their status through architectural choices.
The property has been privately owned since 1896 by the Counts of Westerholt and is not accessible to visitors. You can only view it from outside the perimeter.
The main building is topped by a French hipped roof crowned with four distinctive corner turrets. These architectural features give the château its memorable character.
