Gut Hornoldendorf, Manor estate in Detmold, Germany
Gut Hornoldendorf is a manor estate near Detmold with a late classical manor house built in 1840. The two-story building sits on a high basement and features a plastered facade, standing on grounds that span nearly 300 hectares.
The estate was founded in 1610 by Count Simon VI and transferred two years later to Hans Adam von Hammerstein. This transfer was tied to significant financial obligations.
The manor house preserves room layouts from when it was built, showing how people organized their living and working spaces. These arrangements still reflect the daily patterns of that period.
The grounds have been protected as a monument since 2007 and remain in private ownership. Visitors should note that this is a private property and can only be viewed from the outside.
At the southern edge of the estate grows an oak tree with a trunk circumference of about 9 meters (30 feet). The tree is between 380 and 500 years old and stands as one of the region's oldest trees.
