Caspari-Kaserne, Military barracks in Delmenhorst, Germany.
Caspari-Kaserne is a former military complex in Delmenhorst that once sprawled across a large area with multiple buildings for operations and soldier housing. The site contained various functional zones, from administrative areas to residential quarters for personnel.
The barracks opened in 1935 and served the Wehrmacht before housing British forces after the war until 1958. This military use shaped the site for over two decades before the troops withdrew.
The site shaped local community life by bringing military personnel and civilian workers who changed how people lived and interacted in the town. This mixing of military and civilian populations left marks on the town's social fabric that remain visible today.
Today the grounds are largely unrecognizable from their original state, as most buildings were demolished after 1993. Visitors should know the area now consists mainly of modern residential and business zones.
The only surviving building is a historic blacksmith forge from the original 1935 complex. This small workshop is a rare surviving piece of the everyday infrastructure that kept barracks life running.
