Kloster St. Maria

The monastery buildings spread across the eastern edge of Esthal, with the Aschberg mountain rising in the background and a central church at its core point.

Architect Heinrich Hebgen designed the monastery, which was constructed between 1951 and 1959, serving as the Provincial Mother House of the Palatinate region until 2005.

The monastery chapel contains a historically valuable crucifix acquired from Swiss private ownership in 1984, complemented by furnishings created by Josef Henger in 1986.

The facility operates as a guest house with accommodations, meeting spaces, and regular church services, maintaining its spiritual function under current management.

The Sisters of the Divine Redeemer maintained this establishment for 70 years until 2019, when demographic changes led to its transformation into a modern hospitality center.
