The Vordtriede-Haus is located at Fichtestrasse 4 in Freiburg's garden city district and displays early 1900s residential architecture with features typical of that era. Today the building hosts a memorial initiative that organizes exhibitions and educational programs about local Jewish history.

Käthe Vordtriede, a Jewish journalist and writer (1891–1964), lived at Fichtestraße 4 with her children Fränze (1911–1997) and Werner (1915–1985). It was the family's last shared home before persecution forced them to emigrate in 1933, 1935 and 1938. Under the Nazi policy of Gleichschaltung, the Bauverein Freiburg i. Br. cancelled her membership, ending her lifelong right of residence.

The private initiative "Vordtriede-Haus Freiburg" has run a memorial project at the house since 2014, founded and led by the current tenant. Its slogan is "Erinnerung, Forschung, Mahnung" — remembrance, research, warning — and it organizes contemporary-witness talks, a "Vordtriede-Quiz" and city tours with the Augustinermuseum.

The house at Fichtestrasse 4 is a privately rented, listed residential building in Haslach-Gartenstadt, not a staffed museum; the memorial project runs from inside the flat and has no fixed opening hours. Visitors view the facade and the project's published material from the street. The initiative can be contacted through its own channels to arrange a talk or guided walk.

The memorial project was founded in 2014 by the house's current tenant, who still leads it. Its slogan is "Erinnerung, Forschung, Mahnung" — remembrance, research, warning. In 2015 the initiative received Freiburg's civic engagement prize, and the prize money went into research.
