Sudmerberg

Sudmerberg is a mountain summit in Goslar rising to 355 meters, stretching roughly 2 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide within the Harz range. Several walking paths connect the base to the top, passing through varied terrain and woodland.

A medieval watchtower once stood at the summit as part of a regional defensive system when Goslar was an important trade hub. This structure helped guard the territory during the Middle Ages.

The mountain serves as a habitat for rare plant and animal species typical of central German highlands, all protected from development. Walkers can observe these living spaces directly as they move through the landscape.

Walking paths of varying difficulty lead to the summit with clear markings and information boards along the way. Rest areas are positioned to offer views and breaks during the climb.

The mountain has two distinct peaks rather than a single summit, with the southwestern one being higher and the northern one considerably lower. This double-peak formation creates a more varied landscape for walkers to navigate.
