Zinkhütte Harlingerode, Zinc processing facility in Goslar, Germany

The Zinkhütte Harlingerode facility spans across multiple buildings between Oker and Harlingerode districts, featuring industrial architecture designed for zinc metal production.

Construction began in 1935 under architects Fritz Schupp and Martin Kremmer, with the first zinc production starting in December 1936 using the New Jersey Vertical Retort process.

The industrial complex represents German engineering advancement, demonstrating the evolution of metal processing techniques through its operational period from 1936 to 2000.

The facility connected to freight transport through the Oker Ost railway station, enabling efficient distribution of zinc materials throughout the industrial region.

Between 1948 and 1970, this facility maintained its position as Germany's largest and most advanced zinc production plant, processing 2.8 million tons of zinc.
