Zinkhütte Harlingerode

Zinkhütte Harlingerode is a former zinc smelting facility in Goslar spread across multiple industrial buildings between the Oker and Harlingerode districts. The site contains production structures and equipment built specifically for turning raw materials into refined zinc metal.

The facility was built in the 1930s and began zinc production in 1936 using advanced methods imported from America. It expanded rapidly after World War II and became the country's leading zinc producer before closing in 2000.

The industrial plant shaped the working life of the area and drew laborers from across the region for generations. It served as a key employer and landmark for local economic identity throughout much of the 20th century.

The site was positioned near a freight railway station that allowed efficient transport of zinc products throughout the region. Visitors should know the grounds spread across multiple buildings over a larger area, so plan time to explore the various structures.
