Alsberg-Kaserne Rennerod, Military barracks in Rennerod, Germany
Alsberg-Kaserne is a military barracks in Rennerod, in the Westerwald region of Germany, made up of several buildings spread across the junction of federal roads 54 and 255. The site is home to a medical regiment organized into several specialized units.
The barracks was founded in 1969 when a medical battalion from the 5th Panzer Division moved here from another location. Over the following decades, it grew into a center for medical training and operational readiness.
The name comes from the Alsberg, a ridge in the surrounding Westerwald hills that gives the site its local identity. Anyone familiar with the area will immediately recognize this connection when hearing the name.
The site is easy to reach from federal roads 54 and 255, northeast of Rennerod town center. As this is an active military installation, public access is very limited and photography may not be allowed in certain areas.
Since 2009, a civilian IT company has operated a dedicated section inside the barracks, providing digital services to support the medical mission. This kind of civil-military arrangement within a single installation is not something you often encounter at a site of this size.
