Wäller-Kaserne Westerburg, Military barracks in Westerburg, Germany.
Wäller-Kaserne is a former military installation on the northwestern edge of Westerburg containing residential areas, repair workshops, and support facilities. Today the grounds host commercial spaces and function as a mixed-use park with various structures.
The barracks were established in 1966 as a base for a panzergrenadier unit and served as part of the regional military infrastructure. Military operations ended in 2006 and the site underwent transformation.
A tradition room on Jahnstrasse displays photographs and documents from the military era. Visitors can learn about the soldiers who were stationed there through preserved objects and personal records.
The grounds are now accessible as Wäller-Park and offer various commercial and cultural opportunities. Visitors should note that portions of the property are privately used and access may be limited to certain areas.
Every autumn former barracks soldiers gather at the city hall for reunions. These meetings show how deeply the place remains connected to the memories of those who once lived there.
