Augustinerkloster Wittenberg

The Augustinian monastery in Lutherstadt Wittenberg is a complex of connected buildings featuring Gothic architecture with stone walls and a central courtyard. The structure contains numerous rooms that functioned as monks' quarters, libraries, and learning spaces.

The monastery was established and became an important center for the order and theological study. Its significance grew when it became the site of major intellectual upheaval in the early 16th century.

After 1525, Katharina von Bora took over management of the monastery grounds and established a farm and brewery operation on the property. These facilities provided food and drink for Luther, his students, and the steady stream of visitors who arrived.
