Eisenbahnviadukt Stefansbachtal, Railway viaduct in Gevelsberg, Germany.

The Eisenbahnviadukt Stefansbachtal is a stone bridge featuring five arches that spans roughly 90 meters across the valley and stands about 24 meters tall. The structure connects both sides of the valley using ashlar masonry with detailed stonework visible on the pillars and vaults.

The viaduct was built in 1911 and served the Witten-Schwelm railway line until the early 1980s. After the railway closed, the stone structure remained standing and was later given extensive restoration work.

The structure shows local craftsmanship and engineering skills from the early industrial era that connected communities across the valley. Today, residents and visitors use the space beneath the arches as a gathering point and reminder of past economic activity.

The structure is now part of a cycling network with new safety railings installed after 2021 restoration work. The area beneath the arches is accessible and offers different spots to stop and explore.

A minigolf facility operates in the space under the vaults, creating an unexpected leisure spot within this historic industrial structure. This unusual mix of monument and recreation makes the place a distinctive example of how old infrastructure can find new purpose.
