Stadthaus, Administrative building in Speyer, Germany
The Stadthaus is a three-story administrative building with a central section and a third floor set back from the main facade, decorated with ornamental details throughout. The exterior displays carefully composed architectural elements with elaborate decorations at entrances, windows, and various wall surfaces.
The building was completed in 1903 and initially housed the Palatinate Insurance Institution. In 1960 it became the administrative center of Speyer.
The entrance displays a Palatia niche figure, while the third floor shows allegorical statues representing youth, diligence, industry, agriculture, and age.
The building today houses the city administration with offices of the mayors. Visitors can view the exterior architecture and decorations from the street.
The roof and third floor sculptures were crafted by Gustav Adolf Bernd using French Savonnières stone. These high-quality materials and artistic figures are characteristic of the skilled craftsmanship of the early 20th century.
